Despite their name, The Japanese Popstars are Irish and have introduced themselves in England as nothing less than the new Chemical Brothers! Their second album Controlling Your Allegiance released this year and named “album of the week” by De Morgen, is a series of tracks with some very prestigious guest appearances like during the best years of the Chemical Brothers – notably Jon ‘Blues Explosion’ Spencer, The Cure’s Robert Smith, Tom Smith from The Editors, Green Velvet and many others. Equally, their live show is a cocktail of positive house and electro sounds similar to what the English produced at the time of Orbital and Underworld. Not to be missed under any circumstances.
