You could say that DJ Hype is to drum'n'bass what Afrika Bambaata is to hip-hop; a genuine pioneer and living legend. DJ Hype began his career in 1983 in the company of the Shut Up and Dance soundsystem. It was through radio that he gained notoriety, as his programmes on Fantasy FM and Kiss FM in London gave him the chance to win the title of best male DJ and best radio DJ at the Hardcore Awards in 1994 and 1995. But it was thanks to his collaborations with Ganja and DJ Zinc on the Black Label and his productions that mix Reggae-Ragga and Breakbeat that he became one of the most respected DJs on the drum'n'bass scene. After more than twenty years active musically, the London local is still part of the world's best DJs as much for his exceptional technique as well as his flawless selections.
