Matt Quinn aka Optical started his career in the recording studios of Goldie and Grooverider, before himself releasing hits on labels like Prototype, 31 and Metro. During this time Ben Settle aka Ed Rush also offered him a bunch of tracks to produce, amongst others No U-Turn ("Torque") and Metalheadz ("The Raven", "Locust"). Their first album together "Wormhole" from 1998 is currently considered as a drum'n'bass classic. Later releases of excellent albums like "Creeps" in 2000 and "The Original Doctor Shade" in 2003 are equally warmly received at drum'n'bass parties. Ed Rush & Optical are these days still an unequalled DJ duo synonymous with subsonic psycho dancing.
